报告题目：Lake change in Tibetan Plateau: An sensitive indicator of climate change

报告摘要：I will present our recent studies on the lakes in the Tibetan Plateau for their water surface temperature, water area and water level changes from 1970s to 2015. The overall increase in water surface temperature and expansion in lake area are corresponding to the warming and wet climate in the Tibetan Plateau in the recent decades, differing from the warming and dry climate in the Mongolian Plateau, with an overall shrinkage of lake area over there.

报告人简介：Dr. Hongjie Xie is a professor and Director of Laboratory for Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics, in the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), with primary research focuses on hydrology remote sensing and cryosphere remote sensing. He traveled numeric times to the three polar regions (Arctic, Antarctic, and Tibetan Plateau) for field work and data collection. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed SCI papers and is the editorial board member for Remote Sensing of Environment, Datasets Papers in Geoscience, and International Journal of Applied Environmental Sciences. He received PhD degree from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) in 2002 and worked as a postdoc fellow in New Mexico Tech from 2002-2004, before joined to UTSA in 2004. He received BS (1990) and MS (1993) degrees both from China.
