摘要：Advances in numerical weather forecasts have brought forward significant societal benefits and raised expectations for higher resolution, more accurate, and longer predictions. Despite the consistent progresses achieved, precipitation prediction remains a less satisfyingly tackled task, with skills falling far behind those of other atmospheric variables, such as pressure, temperature, moisture, and wind speed. This dissertation serves as an inspection of prediction capacity and an exploration of predictability for the precipitation process, with a particular focus on the West Coast of the United States.

Baoxiang Pan，2012年毕业于武汉大学水文与水资源工程学士学位，2015年毕业于清华大学水利工程硕士学位，2019年毕业于美国加利福尼亚大学尔湾分校土木工程博士学位，目前已发表学术论文5篇。
