报告人简介：

Dr Quanxi Shao is currently a principal Research Scientist and the team leader of Statistical Computing and Data Modelling at CSIRO Data61, the newly established research institute by combining CSIRO’s Digital Productivity business unit and NICTA (National Australia's Information Communications Technology of Australia) to create the Australia’s digital powerhouse. He and his research team focus on technological development of statistical forecasting, extreme modelling, data integration, uncertainty analysis, data/text mining for big data and statistical algorithm and software, with applications in environmental science including hydrology, climatology and agriculture.

He has written more than 120 research articles and book chapters on statistics and applications, more than 110 papers are SCI-indexed with total citations of more than 2000 and h-index of 26. Most of his research articles are in leading journals in its research fields such as Water Resources Research, Journal of Hydrology, Journal of Geographical Research, Biogeoscience, Agricultural and Forest Meteorology, Computational Statistics and Data Analysis, Statistics in Medicine, and Stochastic Environmental Research and Risk Assessment.

Dr Shao is an active researcher in the international scientific society. He successfully organized the annual Conferences of the International Environmentrics Society (TIES2005 and TIES2014) in Beijing and Guangzhou where Dr Shao was the conference chairman. Dr Shao is also the TIES treasurer from 2006-2008 and board of directors from 2010-2015. He has several adjunct/honorary positions in both Australia and China. He has established long-term research collaborations with both Australian and International researchers in broad research fields.
